Dear Family,
Sounds like a miracle week over there, I am so glad King Henry the cat is back with Grandma Beth. I remember when we went missing and I was kinda worried about him. I am glad that Dad and all the rest of the kids got to visit Grandma.
Also, the Family reunion sounds like it was a blast! The letter and package are still in route I guess, I hope they come soon! This week has been great. Hermana Smith and I are learning so much. I am so glad we are companions. I will have one more best friend at the end of this.
Today we went and bought fruit again at the same place we go every week and the cashier threw in half a melon cause we are friends now. We saw a few of the employees on the metro and talked to them and we wave every time we see them on the street. I am pretty sure we need to teach them the Gospel. We need to get on it!
We thought we were going to have a third companion so the other Hermanas that live with us moved their desks upstairs and we moved our beds downstairs so we could fit a third person. Turns out she is going to another area but I really like the way we changed things up. It feels nice.
Here is an exerpt from my letter to Pres Watkins:"Yesterday on the way to District meeting we ended up taking Bus 35 instead of Bus 34 to get to the chapel...I am really glad we hopped on because we met a boy (about 18 years old) who had been given a Book of Mormon three months ago. He hasn´t had time to read it but he really wanted the Elders to visit him. We gave Elder Robertson his number at district meeting. Last night Elder Robertson called us about P-day destinations and he said that they had already visited Carlos and he is great and he wants to serve a mission!
He said another contact we gave him, Fernando, is really interested too. We met Fernando and his sister carrying a bunch of heavy stuff to her new piso and we offered to help. I just love that the Lord knows what to do, He is guiding us and I am learning to recognize it. I sometimes get really worried about following the Spirit, or failing to follow the spirit, and I worry if we are taking the right route or turning the right way etc, but now I am learning to relax and live worthy of the Spirit and somehow we end up in the right places at the right time.
A little boy (11 yrs old) asked us for the time and before I could finish answering he asked us where the chapel was. He is so funny, he is from Paraguay and the only member of the church in his family. He asked us if we knew Elder Roberts, I guess Elder Roberts was the missionary who baptized him in Paraguay. Kevin is his name and he is definitely not shy so we gave him the name and address of a member that lives close to him and she brought him to church. I can´t imagine being 11 and going to church by myself. We are going to try to visit his mom.
I love you so much!!!Love Hermana Moulton
P.S.Sharah, Check you email.
Hey parents, Here is another thing I wrote to the president this week but I don´t really want it on the blog."The scripture Hel 3:35 stuck out to me yesterday and it stayed with me all day and was repeated again by Elder Bednar as we listened to conference talks last night. I still sometimes have a lot of anxiety or I get homesick but I put the principles in that scripture to the test and I feel the difference. I am so grateful to be here. I feel that I am unlocking treasures here that would have been more elusive to me at home. I am learning to follow and trust in the processes of the Lord. I am learning patterns that will bless me and those around me for the rest of my life. I am so glad I will have had these beautiful experiences when I get married or in whatever comes next. I feel I am being prepared so much here. I know other great girls that didn´t need to come on a mission to learn some of the lessons I am learning here but I am so greatful I had this chance because I REALLY REALLY needed it. I love the Lord. I can see how He is pouring out his blessings on me." I really love that scripture. It is the recipe for happiness. This life is all a big refinery, ultimately the end is that we learn to love love love.
I just loved reading two talks by Elder Wirthlin this week: Come what may and love it" (Mom I know you live by those words and so do I) and The Greatest Commandment. I know the Prophet and Apostles are inspired men. I know it. I feel it. They say what I need...years in advance. That´s because Heavenly Father tells them what we need.
Dad, I want to right you a letter about my thoughts about your weekend with Grandma and fam. You had me bawling like a little baby too.
Love you all! Mom Dad Jacob Josh Sharah and Shalese!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Family,
I am totally jealous you are all in Tahoe!!! But we are having some crazy things happen here too. Here is an excerpt from my letter to Pres. Watkins:
"Yesterday a guy named Ruben (maybe 25 yrs old) turned his car around to come talk to us. He had seen a lot of missionaries in Peru but none here in Spain in the last three years. He was curious about missions as a language learning tool. He wondered if he could sign up. We went to an outdoor bar and explained about the program and why we are here. He was really curious about the Book of Mormon as a historical record and asked where he could go to buy a copy. We gave him the one we were carrying with the commitment that he would read it. We said he should read it with his heart and mind open....he said he would read it with his mind open....we´ll see. We are giving the Elders his information but I bet we will see him at church this Sunday."
It was pretty funny, we had just gotten to a home only to find out that the lady had left but as we were walking back to the metro Ruben pulled over and started talking to us. He is from Peru and used to play soccer at the church there. He had seen a pair of missionaries just the other day and it reminded him of the missionaries he had met or heard about in Peru. He was set on stopping us because he wasn´t sure when he would find more of us. He had a lot of questions and when we talked about the Book of Mormon he said he would read it but he would expect to be able to ask us questions after he read it. (ok if he insists...) we told him that we would have the Elders call him.
On Sunday a lady rang our floor looking for mail, then she asked if we were from the church because she wanted the address of the church so she could go. We said we would be right down. That is the kind of contacting I like ;)
Last night after having walked a lot we met a woman in the last five minutes before going home...she looked as tired as we felt so we talked to her and it sounds like we will be able to visit her a lot!
I´m learning a lot right now...a lot a lot. I know God loves us. I know He doesn´t compare us to each other and He just wants the best for us. Our choices have natural consequences but He is just waiting and ready to bless us. As I learn that there is room in my heart for more and more people to be close to me, I start to realize that God doesn´t have the limits to His love that we do...don´t worry, we´ll grow out of these limits if we try. Good News: God Loves us. He has a plan with our success as the goal. Jesus Christ has provided the payment and sacrifice so that we have the chance to repent and grow out of our weaknesses and sins. There is only one way to find happiness and that is to follow Christ. Once we have determined to follow that path, ultimately, the only option will be to be happy. I love the moments when I glimpse the big picture and remember that "gospel" really does mean "good news"
Shalese, it sounds like I missed the Canadian Border control reenactment...sad, I can only imagine...it´s too cold, I caan´t go back.. Dad, I can´t wait to get your letter. Thanks for looking out for me. Mom, I think you are great, and not to be prideful or anything (hehe) but I am seeing that I am just like you....just another clone as Dad would say. Sharah, Thanks for the email. Sounds like you did a skit at the family reunion. Awesome! Josh and Jake, I love you guys. Shalese and Mom sent me some funny pictures of you. After the family reunion you both owe me emails, ok?
Okay, Here is a shout out to the Family Reunion 2010. Hot Toe rocks!!!
Love you all!

Hi Family,
Mom!!! I got your package with the pictures and Shalese also sent me pictures. Thankyou!!!! Sharah looks like she is getting taller! I read some of Hermana Smith´s letters out loud with her that you sent. That was great, her letters are a lot more informative than mine I have decided. I hope we can be companions my whole mission so that she can keep an accurate record for me.
We went to the temple again today. So great! I think I am finally starting to be accustomed to all the newness and everything is getting easier.
In an effort to be more informative: We had Zone Conference this Tuesday...they reviewed a lot from past zone conferences which was great because so many of us are new. There were a lot of changes this transfer because the Spain mission boundries all changed and about twenty missionaries are leaving at the end of this transfer.
Alexandra and Jofre are progressing, first step though is marriage and it might take them some time to feel ready for that. They are moving in the right direction though and Heavenly Father has perfect patience and a broader perspective. Hna Smith and I are trying to learn this patience and see this perspective.
Sara and Ernesto are a couple who show that patience pays off and everything works out with time. We have been meeting them once a week and they were coming to church on and off in the past two months, but missionaries have been working with them for a year. Finally something changed. Now they have committed to come to church regularly and they will be married and then baptized in a month and a half. This change was so darastic and smooth at the same time. They just seem so much happier and determined to set everything right. We get to meet with them tonight. I am excited!
I am also excited because we met a girl named Shayla at church last week...I guess she has been coming for several weeks but she just went under the radar. We called her and she wants us to come teach her. That is so darn cool. There are a lot of people that are ready for the gospel and they are the easiest to teach!
Last Sunday we ran into another lady who is friends with a member of the Church and she wants to go. She said she just wanted to find a church where she felt comfortable and then she would start going to be an example for her 18 yr old daughter. Well we know she is going to feel comfortable here with us in the true Church on the earth. That statement is bold and true. Everyone has a place and a purpose in the Church and it is the most effective way for Heavenly Father to take care of His children.
Speaking of the Church helping to care for Godś children, we are teaching a girl who is 17 and great but a little hardened by the world...I wish she could have gone to the Young Women´s Program and Mutual every week to learn again and again that the Lord loves us and we have individual worth and divine nature. We have read parts of "For the Strength of the Youth" with her and Laura Gomez, one of the young single adults and a great missionary, has invited her to some of our activites. This is so great, I think she thought every member of the church has to wear skirts everyday like us and that we don´t dance and some other things. It is good for her to see that she can relate a little more.
Well, I´ve got to go, but know that I love you and you are great and missions are great and Spanish is great and the Lord answers prayers. Trials are bitter sweet because we have the chance to come out of them knowing something we never could have learned without going through it. (I say we have the "chance" to learn because we choose how much we get out of it...whether we will be happy or not...whether we will act or simply be acted upon...)
Anyway I love you!!!Love Hermana Moulton

Dear Family,
Sharah: I´m glad you have your own email account now - that is fun. How was Twin Lakes for you?
Josh: I guess your story is a pretty good excuse for not writing me for a million years, if it is true...I don´t know if I believe the part about Chuck Norris though. Sounds like your summer is going pretty great- Keep working on that tan...but remember sun-screen once in a while would ya? I´m working on a rather interesting tan myself.
Jake: Did you help with the Dutch-oven cooking in Twin Lakes? You are going to have to make me that Peach Cobbler one day. ¿Vale?
Shalese: Hahahahahaaaahhha. I like your song about Mulan. Sounds like you took care of business and got things moving in Twin Lakes. I´ve been thinking about it, I think I might be up to swim that stretch of Tahoe again in about three years...this time we are taking life jackets though...as exciting as it was the last time. Maybe another semester might be good before the mission, I am glad I waited a little, but we´re all different (just keep the Lord in on the decision and the timing will all work ou.). I can´t wait to see the pictures you printed off!
Can you also do a super Shout out to Mikayla?...Thanks so much for the 4th of July pack you sent me!!!! It reminded me of the "fun Pack" you sent me in Sixth grade, only cooler. As far as our 4th of July celebrations here went, in Ward council the Bishop said..."isn´t it the Independence day in your counrty?", the missionaries smiled and there was a soft chuckle amongst the people there. That was about it.
Also thanks for the Pillow case!!!! Aunt Cool-Whip: Thanks for the Missionary pillowcase! So fun to get a package. A letter is in the works.
Mom: Hna Smith and I went to the temple today and the Temple president´s wife gave us a "mom hug" for you, probably because we were both in tears...that happens alot ;) Hna Smith told me about a return missionary in her home ward. I guess in his homecoming talk he said how he thought he´d gone on a mission to grow into a man, but he turned into a woman instead...he had never cried so much before his mission.
It felt so great to go to the temple. I know it might sound lame to come home and say I didn´t see many of the cool things that tourists are supposed to see in Spain, but I feel alot better when I come back from the temple.
Dad: I´ll tell the Spaniards you said they should listen to me. I think if I ever get sent anywhere else I´ll probably talk to more Spaniards...in this part of Madrid we still mostly talk to South Americans. Twin Lakes sounds like a blast. I never realized that I was deep down really into nature and country livin´ and camping until I lived in a huge city for a couple months. (Yes mom, I´ll never whine about sleeping outside and not showering ((aka. camping)) again.) Sounds like you guys are dutch oven professionals by now - the Whitakers better watch out. I´m so glad you are into Duty to God and Scouting...I know a bunch of jovenes around here that could use a Scouting trip to Beaver or something.
Love you All!!! Love Shayla

We are still working with alexandra. she is a better "member" than some of the members here. and i mean that in the way that she has come to church every sunday for the past month and to three different baptisms. talk about dedication. she really wants to get baptized but has to wait until she is married. we are working on her marido, jofre patricio, to help him gain a testimony too. he´s on a good track though, wants to put God before anything else.
Alexandra wants her daughter, marilyn, to get baptized too. we taught alexandra about baptism of children the other day from moroni 8 and she asked if marilyn can get baptized even though her parents aren´t married. we said "of course!" i just hope alexandra and jofre get married before marilyn turn 8 in 5 years so they can all be baptized. keep them in your prayers for us!
Oh, forgot to mention, alexandra made us the best dinner the other night of fried fish, salad, rice, and fried platanos. we ate the entire fish just about, eyes and everything (i can just see the look on my mother´s face right now). it wasn´t too bad.
We are teaching carla right now. she is 18 years old and has a brand new baby of 3 weeks! they are darling. she is civilly married and her husband works all of the time. we don´t have the chance to teach him right now. however, a friend of her husband lives with carla. his name is fernando and turns out he is a less-active that baptized in bolivia over ten years ago. he remembers a ton about what he was taught and is actually playing the part of a missionary somewhat in teaching carla and her husband about the teachings of the gospel. it´s pretty neat. also, fernanda made us the BEST empanadas the other night. (empanadas are like fried tortillas filled with meat and vegetables, eggs, cheese, whatever you want basically).
The metro workers are on strike right now for 3 days so we have had to walk or take the bus everywhere. i don´t mind that much, but it is more convenient to ride the metro to certain places.
Spain is going crazy with the world cup. every once in awhile we here people cheering from every apartment, people honking horns. it´s pretty awesome. it would be more awesome if i could watch! i love soccer!
There was an awesome thunder and lightning storm last week in the middle of the night. it was so cool looking out of our window and seeing the lightning strike all around the city.
anyway, got to run. love you all. the church it true!

Dear Fam:
Jake: It´s your BIRTHDAY!!!!! Happy Birthday! That is way too crazy...one year till you know what....the keys. Watch out! I love you so much.
Josh: I heard you gave a talk in church...hmmmm...I think you are supposed to write me a letter about it. That´s the rule.
Sharah: Sharah!!!! The Music Man...Dad said it went great and you are a natural on stage. Remember when we talked about what natural means?
Shalese: Thanks for the letters.... Sorry you were sick this week.
Mikayla: I got your letter....thanks and good luck with the doctors etc. Iḿ praying for ya!
Mom: You ARE the best one here!! Assignment (pretty please): I need pictures of my teenage brothers and my sister with freckels and my good lookin´ parents. ¿Vale? (That mean "ok?")
Dad: Loved your letter. I know what you mean about the long hot days and being "fallar-ed" disappearing from your memory quickly....I´m already forgetting those days. July is upon us though...it is going to get insuportable as they say.
The other night Alexandra, one of our investigators cooked for us...fried fish and platano and rice....I have never eaten such amazing fish in all my life. It was sort of a fiasco though...we didn´t know what we were signing up for when we said we would have time and we ended up getting home late...the ward mission leader was there with us though so at least we were in good company. I feel really close to Alexandra´s family, at church her hija and sobrino sat on either side of me and I helped them be reverent...I felt just like I was sitting at church with our family a few years ago when our family was a little younger.
Additional noteworthy event: Ate fresh empanadas hot off the oil last night. AMAZING! They were made by one of the people we are teaching right now, the vecino of Carla....You´ll hear more about Carla later I think... she seems really ready to accept the Gospel. So great. I think the blessings that I have had as far as peace and trust and love within my own family are magnified now that I am seeing a little more of the world and what a difference it is to have constant teaching of the Gospel and to have made promises and commitment to follow Christ the best we can. Wow....amazing. I love it, I feel so lucky to have the Gospel and to have all of you forever!!!
Love you all sooo much.
Love Shayla

Love Shayla
